We are thrilled to announce that Alanna Jenish will be joining us and everyone at Music Camp this year!
Alanna is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist and stepdancer who does it all! She writes and plays the guitar, fiddle, piano and a lot of music with artists around the world. Based in Peterborough, Ontario, her musical background is diverse, beginning with roots in Canada’s Ottawa-Valley tradition, and expanding through a range of folk and fiddle-based genres. Alanna has performed across Canada, the United States, and Europe with artists and ensembles including The Fitzgeralds, Portage, Jane & Kyle, and Ryan Young, Her versatility and musicianship have earned her the respect of many artists.
Alanna holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto and a Master of Media Studies from the University of Sussex. In 2025, Alanna received a Canadian Folk Music Award for her most recent album ‘Daleview’ as Instrumental Composer of the Year.She was also honoured to receive the Young Tradition Bearer of the Year award at the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival. Her work reflects both technical skill and a strong creative voice, rooted in tradition but continually evolving.
As an educator, Alanna has taught at a variety of music camps and workshops, including the Goderich Celtic College, AlgomaTrad, and the Toronto Fiddle Collective. She has also served as a guest instructor at York University’s Faculty of Music and as an adjudicator for classical music festivals and Canadian Old-Time Fiddle Competitions. Her teaching is known for being thoughtful, encouraging, and grounded in a deep respect for musical tradition. We can’t wait to have Alanna with us at Camp this year so that everyone can experience her many musical and creative gifts!
