Lisa Dodd
Bass Guitar | Vocals
Bassist extraordinaire Lisa Dodd is coming to Music Camp! We are thrilled to welcome her this year, not only as an exceptional bassist and vocalist, but as an artist whose talent and accomplishments have earned the deep respect of her peers and fellow musicians. Lisa will be joining our brand-new Dingwall Bass Program as an instructor and will also be sharing her extensive experience as a vocalist.
Lisa’s career is truly remarkable. She was the first female bassist inducted into the CCMA Musician Hall of Honour and only the third female musician overall to receive that distinction. She was also the first female to receive the CCMA Bass Player of the Year award and incredibly, won it five times — in 2012, 2015, 2019, 2020, and 2025.
In 2012, Lisa accepted an invitation to join the Canadian country, Gord Bamford Band. With the GB band she has enjoyed touring across Canada multiple times, also performing in Australia, America, Mexico, Switzerland, France, Italy and Spain. When she’s not on the road, Lisa fronts her own shows, freelances, and lends her voice to studio sessions for a wide range of Canadian artists. She has recorded one live album and two studio albums with her own band and also served as lead vocalist on the American pop/rock/funk project, Vinyl Hampdin.
Born in Montreal in 1969 and raised in Alberta from 1977 onward, Lisa was attracted to music early on. By the time she was 16, she was already making her living as a musician — and for the past 40 years, she has done exactly that with passion, dedication, and unstoppable drive. She began performing with her father’s weekend band in 1985, quickly seizing every opportunity to play clubs and jam with Calgary musicians. In 1993, she launched her own band and toured North America for the next decade before briefly stepping back due to burnout in 2004. It wasn’t long before she returned to the stage, rebuilding her momentum and continuing to perform with Calgary artists and beyond. We are grateful that Lisa has time to join us this summer in Lakefield and can’t wait for everybody to meet and work with her!
