We are really excited to welcome Maura Shawn Scanlin to Music Camp this summer!

Maura is a fiddle player, violinist, and songwriter who is based in Boston, MA. She is gaining notoriety among the Celtic and Acoustic music scenes across the country and beyond. Her playing, hailed for its inventiveness, fluidity, and tone, brings together influences from her classical background as well as the Celtic and American traditions she grew up with. Touring actively with her duo Rakish, and string quartet, Rasa String Quartet, Maura has also shared the stage with many cornerstone musicians in the Celtic music world including Seamus Egan, Liz Carroll, Maeve Gilchrist, John Doyle and Hanneke Cassel.

Maura is a 2-time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion, and a Glenfiddich Fiddle Champion. She holds an M.M. in Violin Performance from the Yale School of Music, and a B.M. from the New England Conservatory. She also attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts for High School. Her classical music collaborations have led her to the Osaka International Quartet Competition, Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition, the Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition, and the Banff Chamber Music Residency.

This year promises to be an exciting one for Maura as she will be releasing a new album, “Rule of Three” featuring John Doyle and Duncan Wickel (with guest artists Mike McGoldrick and Mick McAuley). Slated to drop in the summer of 2026, we look forward to experiencing and celebrating this new music with Maura at Camp in July!
